Writing

Alongside acting, Charly’s love for creating her own work naturally led her into writing.

Throughout her studies she wrote a number of short films and devised for theatre. However it was in 2022 that she truely delved deep into writing. After taking a break from acting to become a full time carer for her mum, writing was a way of still creating without restrictions.

In 2023 she gained a place in the Bush Theatre’s West London Playwright’s group, and also started writing think pieces for LGBTQ+ focused magazines such as Gay Times and Diva.

Her recent writing credits include the short film Immodest (winner of the Straight 8 2025 competition, premiering at Cannes and the BFI imax), and the music video Father for artist Samfire.

She is currently developing her short film ‘Going To Graceland’ a story that, although fictional, is incredibly close to her heart and influenced by her own caring experience.
